We are an independent provider of residential and community-based rehabilitation for clients with a variety of physical, neurological and developmental disorders including traumatic brain injury. We are driven to help our clients achieve independence, inclusion and quality of life after an injury, disorder or as a result of a medical condition. Our community service provides rehabilitation and support under ACC’s Training for Independence and Living My Life programmes.
Kōrero mō te tūranga |About the role
This role will involve providing speech and language therapy services within our community team for clients in varying stages of their rehabilitation journey. This includes those in the post-acute phase through to community re-integration and habilitation. Your caseload will contain a range of acquired brain injuries.
You will have plenty of support working within an interdisciplinary team including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Registered and Enrolled Nursing Staff, Psychologists and Rehabilitation Coaches. You will be involved with a variety of clinical work (assessment, therapy, and education) for injury-related rehabilitation. There is also the potential to extend your skills into other types of work such as contributing to service development and providing education within the residential service. We encourage innovative practice and project development related to your clinical interests.

The successful applicant will have:
- Speech Language Therapy/Pathology qualification and registration with NZSTA.
- A minimum of two years’ experience working with clients with neurological injuries including complex communication and dysphagia.
- Knowledge or interest in areas of cognitive-communication, social communication, dysphagia, dysarthria, aphasia and augmentative alternative communication.
- A commitment to Te Ao Māori Framework of Practice.
- A holistic and person-centred approach.
- Interest in complex and challenging behaviours.
