Laura Fergusson Trust, Wellington has an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with experience in neuro rehabilitation and brain injury to join our interdisciplinary team.
We are a provider of residential and community-based rehabilitation, for clients with a variety of neurological and developmental disorders including traumatic brain injury. Our community service provides rehabilitation and support under ACC’s Training for Independence and Living My Life programmes.
Purpose of the Position
Key clinical roles include assessing and treating clients to achieve optimum wellbeing and independence, both within the residential service and out in the wider community. We see our community clients in their homes, communities, workplaces and in our own rehabilitation settings.
Our aim is to help our clients understand their disability or injury, and build their ability to set and achieve goals which matter to them. We have a strong client and family / whanau focus.
The successful applicant will have a Bachelor of Health Science in Occupational Therapy, Personal Care and Household Management accreditation through Enable and a minimum of two years’ experience working with clients with neurological injuries. Previous experience in community and brain injury rehabilitation are desirable while some neuro rehabilitation experience is essential.
The role requires the ability to work autonomously as well as in close coordination with other members of the interdisciplinary team. Our IDT includes Physiotherapists, Speech-Language Therapists, Registered and Enrolled Nursing Staff and Psychologists. We are committed to evidence based practice, and ongoing support and training.
